Lupe Cortes’ day begins at 5 a.m., when she goes to help her mother, Celia Camacho, with food preparations at Deliciosos Tamales.
From there, she attends her classes at Central Washington University. This quarter will be her last at CWU before she pursues a master’s degree.
She is taking four classes, which include organic chemistry, genetics, mechanisms of evolution and honors math.
It’s been a long road for Cortes, but since high school she had her sights set high.
