In 1956, he began working as a custodian for National Bank of Commerce, Rainier Bank, and now Key Bank for 26 years, retiring in 1984. Leonard worked, managed and owned an orchard on Okanogan Avenue in Wenatchee for 35 years. He also worked for Cascadian Fruit Shippers and Western Refrigeration. Leonard liked to work with wood in his garage.
