Edwin B. “Ted” Trussell

December 13, 1915 ~ December 17, 2013

Edwin B. “Ted” Trussell, 98, a 28 year Wenatchee Valley resident, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Columbia Heights in Wenatchee. He was born on December 13, 1915, at Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to the late Edwin Burton and Florence (Karey) Trussell. As a young child, they moved to Vancouver, BC, where he grew up and graduated from high school. Upon graduation, he started working in the logging camps. During this time, he met and later married Barbara Bell in August of 1936. In 1940, they moved to Victoria and later back to Vancouver. Following his employment in the camps, he continued his education and received his teaching credentials and he taught high school in Vancouver, as a Drafting and Industrial Arts Instructor. Over time, teaching was no longer a passion, so he went to work as a Medical Orderly at St. Paul’s Hospital in Vancouver until retiring. Retirement upon them, they purchased a six acre orchard and raised cherries, peaches and apples. In 1984, they decided that they wanted to be closer to their children, so they sold the orchard and moved to Wenatchee. Barbara passed away in 2000. He later married Jewel Knutson and together they made their home in East Wenatchee. Jewel passed away in 2006. In 2009, Ted moved to Columbia Heights Retirement home in Wenatchee. He was a member of Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church, a lifelong member of the Seventh-day Adventist denomination, a former Ginkgo Mineral Society member and formerly volunteered at the Wenatchee Food Bank. An artist of crafting, oil painting and carving, he started while in his late 80’s, and had won numerous awards at the local fairs. He was responsible for the stained glass windows at the Valley View Church. He enjoyed music and played the trombone.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents; and spouses, Barbara Bell and Jewell Knutson. He is survived by children, Beryl (Garth) Comm of Wenatchee, Kathleen (Wesley) Brashers of Milton Freewater, OR, Beverly Thompson of Walla Wallla, WA, and Bertrum (Sharon) Trussell of Vernon, BC, Canada; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A Memorial Service will be held Friday, January 3, 2014, at 3:00 p.m. at Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church, East Wenatchee.
