AppleSox name assistant coach
The Wenatchee AppleSox have hired former player Eric Lane as an assistant coach for the 2013 West Coast League season.
Lane played for the 2010 WCL championship AppleSox team, and currently is a graduate assistant coach at Gonzaga, his alma mater.
“I loved my experience in Wenatchee in 2010 and I feel fortunate to return in this role,” Lane said in a press release. “The fans and community are outstanding and the AppleSox are a great organization to be a part of.”
AppleSox manager Ed Knaggs added, “He knows how we operate and is very similar to previous coaches who have filled this role. He is a hard worker with a great attitude. It’s a perfect fit to have him back with us as a coach.”
At Lower Columbia College, Lane was a two-time NWAACC Western Division Most Valuable Player. He also was named honorable mention All-West Coast Conference after his junior season at Gonzaga.

In regards to the article about the newly elected WHS Hall of Fame inductees, does the Wenatchee World need a competent proof reader? The article states that there are 4 new inductees but only identifies 3. The World forgot to identify Kristen Ballinger, class of 2007, who will also be inducted. C'mon Mr. Sportswriter, take the time to read your own article for accuracy before printing.
