Wilf Woods: Maybe I have become more sensitive

Thursday, February 7, 2013

photo

Maybe I have become more sensitive in my senior years, but even with a hearing loss I find many music venues simply too loud for comfort.

The Town Toyota Center puts on big shows, and I love ‘em, and the Performing Arts Center has great music too. But both of them sometimes over-amplify for my taste. And smaller venues have the same problem for me on occasion.

Kathy and I go to places where we wished we had brought our earplugs. The era of loud music is still with us, it appears, and if there is any other remedy short of earplugs, I’d like to find it.

Wilfred Woods you are absolutely correct. My wife and I have been bothered for years in Wenatchee by music being played way to loud. This has happened at numerous events at the PAC and Wenatchee High School.

Two things. First, many times the volume for the speakers is cranked up way to far to enjoy the music. The whole auditorium could easily hear everything (and enjoy it more) if the sound was down a few notches.

And second, at plays and concerts we many times have trouble hearing the words being sung because of the overbearing volume of the live orchestra/band.

Tone it DOWN!
