Wilf Woods: Channeling Rufus (my father)
Saturday, February 16, 2013
They asked me to impersonate Rufus Woods at next weekend’s People of the Past event at the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center — my father, not my son.
The museum has been doing this annually, bringing pioneers to life, sort of.
My father had an interesting life, promoting development of all kinds in the region.
I decided the period following World War II would be worth remembering. It was quite recent, less than 70 years ago, and I was there as a new reporter on the paper.
Great things were happening with irrigation works under construction in the Basin. And there was competition for new federal dams on the Columbia.
And our PUD got into business in that time frame, too.

Rats, wish we were going to be home to see and hear this...however, as they say in Hollywood, "Break a Leg."
