JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Wenatchee Wild dropped the first game of a two-game set against the Jamestown Ironmen 3-1 on Friday night.
The second-year Ironmen (31-14-4) rode a two-goal second period to the victory. Huba Sekesi and Ryan Doucet both scored in the frame to break a scoreless tie after the first period.
Wenatchee's Jono Davis converted on a powerplay off assists from Chris Kerr and Jacob Barber 7:15 into the third, but Evan Ritt's unassisted tally pushed the Jamestown advantage back to two with just over 10 minutes to go.
Joe Ballmer stopped 19 of 20 Wild shots to get the win in goal for the Ironmen.
Wenatchee's Robert Nichols stopped 21 of 24 shots in the loss.
Jamestown was 0 for 4 on the powerplay, while Wenatchee was 1 for 2.
The series concludes with a 2 p.m. contest Saturday.
