Schoolhouse Rugby Club opens season 2-0-1

PENDLETON, Ore. — The Wenatchee-based Schoolhouse Rugby Club Skulls began the 2013 season by finessing 2-0-1 at the Pendleton East of the Cascade Classic.
In its first match, Schoolhouse defeated the host Pendleton Sasquatch 50-0 behind scores by Caleb Aumell, Hayden McCall, Tell Shasteen, Aidan Maher and Britt Parkhill. Ethan Grande tacked on two conversions.
The Skulls played Battleground to a 12-12 tie in its second game. Shasten and Nick Olsen scored, while Grande had a conversion.
Finally, Schoolhouse beat Bend, Ore., 8-7. Scoutt Naubert made the Skulls’ lone try, and Grande made the conversion.
The Skulls will continue play at 1 p.m. Saturday vs. Prarie Rugby Club of Yelm at Confluence Park.
