Woman who fell down well remains hospitalized
An 83-year-old Waterville woman who fell down a backyard well on Christmas Eve remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition.
Ernestine Eggers will probably stay at Central Washington Hospital for another week, her husband, Lawrence Eggers, said today.
Eggers fell 30 to 35 feet down the well, which had one to two feet of water, and spent about 20 minutes there before she was rescued.
The couple routinely shoveled snow into the well and Eggers fell in after the lid was left off, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
