Wild sponsors anti-bullying assemblies and concert

Thursday, January 10, 2013

— Wenatchee

A little bullying on the ice is considered great entertainment if you’re a hockey player. But the Wenatchee Wild hockey team wants kids to know bullying is not okay elsewhere.

The Wild is sponsoring country music singer Matt Kennon and inspirational speaker Troy McClain in local middle schools next Thursday and Friday, Jan. 17 and 18. At 6 p.m. that Friday, Kennon will show his anti-bullying video, “Stop the Bull,” and perform a concert before the Wenatchee Wild hockey game that night.

“Creating excellent character off the ice is important,” said Bill Stewart, co-owner and president of the Wenatchee Wild. “We train to be aggressive on the ice. Being aggressive in a sport is different than bullying someone for who they are as a person.”

The school assemblies and concert are sponsored by the Wild along with Yahoo, Guns N Hoses, Pepsi and Columbia Valley Community Health. Students can purchase tickets for the concert and the game for $10. The first 1,000 students receive free “Stop the Bull” T-shirts.

For tickets and more information, call 888-7825.

That is so wonderful that the Wild are sponsoring these anti-bullying events for our youth and community.
