Comments on merging festivals due Monday
Public opinion seems to favor a merger of the city’s two annual festivals into one larger celebration, says the local Chamber of Commerce manager.
The deadline for commenting is Monday
People in favor of combining the Founders’ Days and Apple Days realize the issue is too few volunteers for two big celebrations, said Chamber Manager Jill FitzSimmons. Founders’ Days is sponsored by the Chamber, and Apple Days by the Cashmere Pioneer Village and Museum.
A meeting here Thursday drew 45 locals, mostly from civic and business groups, to discuss the possibility of merging the two festivals into one big bash.
Not everyone favors the merger, however, and an additional obstacle is choosing a date for the combined celebration, said FitzSimmons. Members of the Chamber and museum boards are set to meet Tuesday for further discussion.
Comments must be dropped off by 5 p.m. Monday at the Chamber office, 101 Cottage Ave., or by email at email@example.com.
