Chelan County Commissioners will hold hearings at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday on two proposed Public Works changes.
One regulation change would update tire chain advisories on Mission Ridge Road, between Squilchuck Park and the Mission Ridge Ski and Board Resort. Commissioner Ron Walter said the rule needs to be updated to make it compliant with state regulations. The change would require chains on all vehicles except all-wheel or four-wheel drive vehicles whenever county road officials determine weather conditions warrant traction devices.
The second item on which county residents are invited to comment is a traffic safety enhancement program. If approved, the new rule would create a traffic division within the Chelan County Sheriff’s Department. Walter said one deputy would be assigned to traffic control and be funded mainly from traffic tickets.
Commissioners plan to vote on both items after the hearings, which will be held in the commissioners’ meeting room at 400 Douglas St.
Another public hearing concerning the Chelan County Fire District 1 Station 13 project is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. No vote will be taken on that project.
