Panther sprinter wins race, impresses colleges

Sunday, January 27, 2013

SEATTLE — Isaiah Brandt-Sims continues to wow college recruiters across the west coast.

The junior sprinter and running back recorded a nation-best 6.70 in the 60-meter dash Saturday at an indoor track meet at the University of Washington.

Brandt-Sims, a two-time defending 100- and 200-meter champion sprinter and all-state running back, received a scholarship offer from the Huskies for track and football after his performance Saturday and has already received offers from Southern Methodist University, the University of Wyoming and has also been contacted by Arizona State University and Colorado State University.

Wenatchee football coach Scott Devereaux said Brandt-Sims isn’t ready to commit to any schools yet.

“He’s just kind of enjoying it right now,” Devereaux said. “He hasn’t gone on any visits.”

Standout lineman to sign

Senior Panther lineman Cody O’Connell is expected to sign a letter of intent with Washington State University sometime in the next week, Devereaux said. O’Connell committed to WSU in May 2012.
