CORVALLIS, Oreg. — The Corvallis Knights continued to exude dominance over the Wenatchee AppleSox on Tuesday in Corvallis, Oreg., picking up a 9-2 win.
Wenatchee entered the series riding a six-game win streak but have lost back-to-back outings against the defending South Division champions.
The AppleSox dropped to 17-12 overall with the loss and dropped out of first place in the North Division in the process.
The Knights pulled out to a lead in the bottom of the second after Joey Duffin plated Cody Lenahan after a single with bases loaded. Kevin Kline scored on a fielder’s choice and Blake Drake hit a single to send Chris Rabago home which gave the home team a 3-0 lead at the end of the second.
Peter Van Gansen and Dane Lund recorded back-to-back RBIs in the bottom of the fourth to make it a 5-0 affair.
Corvallis continued its aggressive offense against starter Trevor Lubking. Kline led the inning with a home run. Rabago and Duffin scored on consecutive sacrifice fly’s to center field and a double by Lund sent Grant Melker home to make it 9-0.
Wenatchee’s Grant Palmer scored in the top of the sixth on an error and Brock Slavin scored on an error in the eighth to make it 9-2 going into the ninth. It failed to secure a hit in the final frame of play.
Lubking gave up 12 hits and nine runs in 4 innings on the mound.
The Sox wrap up their three-game road stretch against the Knights today at 6:40 p.m.
