BOSTON — The small group of protesters claiming innocence Wednesday for Boston Marathon bombing suspect Dzhokhar Tsarnzaev included a Wenatchee activist.
Lacey Buckley, 23, traveled from Wenatchee and stood by in a T-shirt reading “Free the Lion” as Tsarnaev, 19, entered his not-guilty plea to 30 federal terrorism charges. Some supporters have adopted the lion as a symbol of Tsarnaev.
The “Free Jahar” movement has gained followers among 9/11 truthers, Anonymous activists and even young women drawn to Tsarnaev’s looks. Interviewed by the Boston Herald, Buckley said she’s not among the latter group.
“He’s just a baby,” Buckley told a Herald reporter. “Gross.”
The Wenatchee World could not immediately reach Buckley for comment Thursday. She’s featured in a video from Boston Herald videographer Mark Garfinkel, at this link.
