WENATCHEE — Fire investigators believe arson may be to blame for a fire that destroyed part of a modest rental home at 504 Methow St. early Saturday.
The home’s occupants were not inside the single-story structure when the fire erupted, nor were neighboring homes damaged, Sgt. Jim West, spokesman for Wenatchee Police said Saturday.
The fire was reported at 6:30 a.m. It burned the home’s northwest corner and burned most of the attic, West said.
The initial investigation Saturday revealed that an accelerant may have been used to start the fire, he said.
Wenatchee Fire Chief Stan Smoke said crews from Wenatchee, Douglas County Fire District 2 and Chelan County Fire District 1 extinguished the blaze in about 15 minutes.
Investigators ask anyone with information or questions about the fire to contact West through the Rivercom emergency dispatch center, 663-9911.
