WENATCHEE — Wenatchee Police Friday arrested a 40-year-old Whidbey Island man suspected of passing counterfeit bills at four local businesses in May.
Officials at the four businesses detected the counterfeit bills after the suspect had left their locations, Sgt. Jim West, Wenatchee police spokesman said Saturday.
Three of the four businesses had video recordings of the man they believed to be the suspect, West said.
Security officials at Shopko called Friday to report that they suspected the man was at the store shopping. Police arrested him in the Shopko parking lot, West said.
The suspect was living in Monitor at the time of his arrest, West said.
West said he didn’t immediately know the value of the counterfeit bills used in the businesses.
