FRISCO, Texas — The Wenatchee Wild will see their share of new competition for the 2013-14 season.
The North American Hockey League released its schedule for the upcoming season this week, and the Wild, who will move to the Midwest Division, will play a handful of teams they didn’t face last year.
Wenatchee opens the season at home against the Topeka RoadRunners in September and hosts the Minnesota Wilderness the following day. The Wilderness are part of the revamped Midwest Division and the RoadRunners didn’t appear on the Wild’s schedule last season.
Wenatchee goes on to face the Minnesota Magicians and Coulee Region — both division opponents the team didn’t face last year — on the road the following weekend. The Magicians are an expansion team.
The Wild will also see fresh competition in the Soo Eagles and Port Huron Fighting Falcons.
The site for the Robertson Cup, which Wenatchee competed in last year, hasn’t been announced yet.
Wenatchee will still get plenty of looks at the Fairbanks Ice Dogs and the Kenai River Brown Bears, who moved to the Midwest Division with the Wild.
