SNOQUALMIE PASS — King County Search and Rescue says a Navy helicopter has picked up a hiker injured about five miles from Snoqualmie Pass.
The rescue unit tweeted late Thursday night that the helicopter crew lowered a medic to the male hiker, then hoisted him aboard for transport to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. A ground rescue team that also responded was escorting the rest of the hiking party out of the area.
The unidentified hiker reportedly had a broken leg in an area near Silver Peak.
Search and Rescue spokesman Glenn Wallace earlier told The Seattle Times the ground team was dispatched in case the helicopter was unable to reach the hiker.
Wallace said a King County sheriff’s helicopter was unavailable.
