QUINCY — A head-on crash on Highway 28 near Quincy Thursday evening left one driver dead and another in critical condition this morning, authorities said.
Ron M. Kincade, 32, of an unknown hometown, is in critical condition at Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee this morning, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The name of the deceased driver will not be released until the family is notified, a Washington State Patrol report said.
Kincade was driving west on the highway about one-half mile east of Quincy at 6:05 p.m. when his 1996 Chevrolet Blazer crossed the centerline and struck a 2013 Dodge Dart, the State Patrol report said.
The driver of the Dodge died at the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and alcohol was involved, the report said.
The highway closed, and traffic was rerouted through county roads, a state Department of Transportation alert said.
