VICTORIA, British Columbia — The Wenatchee AppleSox lost to the Victoria HarbourCats 3-2 on Saturday at Royal Oak Park.
Trailing 3-1 in the top of the ninth, Wenatchee (22-16) mounted a rally and scored its second run when pinch hitter Brett Stephens hit a double to score Connor Spencer to cut Victoria’s lead to one run. The AppleSox had runners on first and third base with two outs, but Victoria pitcher Ryan Keller got Brock Slavin to fly out to the second baseman to end the game.
Wenatchee took a 1-0 lead in the fourth inning on a Kramer Ferrell single that scored Joey Harris.
The HarbourCats scored single runs in the fifth, sixth and seventh frames to take a 3-1 lead.
Wenatchee pitcher C.J. Burdick pitched six innings and allowed eight hits, three runs and one walk while striking out six.
Grant Palmer had two hits for the AppleSox.
