QUINCY — The victim of a Friday morning shooting east of Quincy is in serious but stable condition, while a suspect in the shooting remains at large, authorities say.
Authorities today identified the victim as Luis Ochoa Murillo, 23, of Quincy. He was flown to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee on Friday.
Arnoldo Cazares Mendoza, 20, of Quincy, is suspected of shooting him multiple times in the abdomen at an orchard two miles west of Quincy early Friday, said Grant County Sheriff’s Office spokesman Kyle Foreman.
He said sheriff’s deputies interviewed several people at the orchard and are still trying to piece together the events leading up to the shooting.
Mendoza initially fled in a pickup truck, which was found abandoned near another orchard. Police surrounded the orchard and launched an unsuccessful search.
The search continued through the weekend.
The sheriff’s office is asking for the public’s help in finding Mendoza. People who see him are urged to call 762-1160, or email information to firstname.lastname@example.org. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
