WENATCHEE — Former Wenatchee Wild forward Chris Kerr committed to play for Simon Fraser University for the 2013-14 season.
The 20-year-old recorded 98 points in 119 games in two seasons with the Wild.
“It’s a great school with a really good team, I’m excited to get my education started and continue playing hockey,” Kerr said of the school, which is located in Burnaby, B.C. in a press release at wenatcheewild.com.
Former defenseman David Mead will also continue his hockey career at the collegiate level, the Wild announced in mid-July.
Mead will attend Selkirk College in Castlegar, B.C., for the 2013-14 season.
The 20-year-old helped lead the Western Division champions to the Robertson Cup Championship. Mead accumulated 10 points and 154 penalty minutes as one of the team’s assistant captains.
“I’m really looking forward to joining a well-established hockey program and helping to continue the commitment to excellence the Saints have established,” Mead said in a press release. “I’m excited for the opportunity to get a great education from a college with a hands-on curriculum.”
