An EC-135 medical helicopter is the lastest addition to Northwest Medstar services in North Central Washingon.

WENATCHEE — A new medical helicopter will be on weekend duty through the summer in North Central Washington, and the public is invited to take a closer look.

Northwest Medstar, a Spokane-based critical care transport company, added the Eurocopter EC-135 to handle increased medical calls on busy summer weekends in Chelan, Douglas and Okanogan counties, said company spokeswoman Tamitha Anderson. The first day of service is Saturday.

The copter’s home base is Medstar’s facility in Moses Lake, but in summer months the copter and crew will rotate to towns in NCW.

On Saturday, the copter will be on view from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Ninth Annual Andrew York Lineman Rodeo, hosted at Walla Walla Point Park by five area PUDs and IBEW 77.

On Sunday, the copter visits the Pybus Public Market from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or later) during the market’s Father’s Day activities.

Medstar provides critical care flights services to communities in eastern Washington, northern Idaho, western Montana and northeaster Oregon.
