Great floods on earth was the topic of geomorphologist David Montgomery at the Wenatchee Erratics meeting this week.
He told the group of discovering a great ice-dam flood in Tibet about ten years ago.
He has gone on to write a book about floods called “The Rocks Don’t Lie.” He discusses all kinds of floods from different causes, such as tsunamis, or other ice dams like the Missoula floods so familiar to us. He traces the history of them through the centuries, relating how Noah’s Floods have been interpreted in changing times.
His book notes the growth of scientific explanations of plate tectonics. He notes that creationism in the Christian faith is a recent development of the 20th century, and disputes that explanation of the flood of Noah.
