The AppleSox halted their 5-game losing streak in a big way on Father’s Day, scoring more runs in Sunday’s game than in any other game all season.
Wenatchee beat the Klamath Falls Gems in the second of the three-game series 12-2.
The losing-streak looked like it was going to continue in the top of the first inning, when starter Davis Engle gave up two runs. But Engle received some run-support in the bottom half of the inning when Andre Real hit a two-run homer - his second so far this season.
The Sox added another two runs in the second inning by taking advantage of the Gem’s shortstop’s error, hitting a double, and scoring on a balk.
The AppleSox scored in seven of the eight innings they took an at-bat, including four in the bottom of the eighth. After the first inning, the Gems couldn’t score again.
Wenatchee finished with 16 hits. Real went three-for-five with a double on top of his homer. Stockton Taylor went two-for-two with a double, and Engle threw six strong innings, giving up only four hits and one walk.
