TRIPOLI, Libya (AP) — In a June 20 story about Libya, The Associated Press erroneously reported that Human Rights Watch said international law requires countries to only apply the death penalty to severe cases. The group opposes capital punishment in all countries and in all circumstances as a matter of principle. Its statement noted that international law requires countries that retain the death penalty to apply it only for the most serious crimes. A corrected version of the story is below:
