CHELAN — A 68-year-old Manson man died early this morning after a tractor accident on orchard land near Chelan.
John W. Marker was pronounced dead at the scene, according to a press release from Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett. Marker was found by his adult son who called the RiverCom dispatch center at 4:45 a.m. The son, whose name was not available, reported that his father had been run over by a tractor and the tractor was on fire.
The accident happened about three miles west of Chelan on Highway 150 at Chelan View Orchards. Undersheriff John Wisemore said Marker was an orchardist but he did not know if Chelan View Orchards was Marker’s property.
Marker had been drying cherries with an orchard tractor when the tractor went over a 6-foot embankment and rolled. He was found in front of the tractor. Wisemore said Marker was not burned in the fire.
