WENATCHEE —The driver in a June 9 car crash that injured a woman near Lake Chelan State Park faces charges of vehicular assault and related offenses.
Collin M. Irons, 22, of Seattle was leaving a nearby campsite when the 1993 Acura sedan he was driving veered off South Lakeshore Road near Morning Star Drive and came to rest in a creek. One passenger, a 23-year-old Bellevue woman, was taken to Seattle’s Harborview Medical Center for treatment; a male passenger was treated for minor injuries.
Chelan County sheriff’s deputies said Irons provided a false driver’s license when interviewed, and registered 0.09 on an alcohol breath test. A further check also found Irons was under court order to use an ignition interlock device before driving, but the Acura was not fitted with such a device.
Irons was arraigned Monday on charges of vehicular assault, second-degree driving with a suspended license, ignition interlock violation and refusal to give information or cooperate with a police officer. He faces trial Aug. 20.
