QUINCY — A man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries after being wounded during a gun battle in Quincy about 11 p.m. Saturday.
Equipment that locates gunshot sounds sent officers to the area of First Avenue Southeast and C Street Southeast, according to a press release from Sgt. Paul Snyder with the Quincy Police Department. The shots were fired by multiple shooters.
The gunshots came after two groups of people were arguing. The argument escalated to “both sides displaying guns and then firing upon each other,” according to the press release.
The name of the man who was shot was not available.
Arrested on suspicion of first-degree assault was Rigoberto I. Vasquez, 24. His hometown was not listed. Vasquez was booked into the Grant County jail.
The Grant County sheriff’s deputies and State Patrol troopers assisted in the crime investigation. Search warrants were served on two residences, where several firearms and ammunition were seized, according to the press release.
