Bridge work postponed until Wednesday
A rainy forecast has postponed bridge work — and traffic delays — in Tumwater Canyon until Wednesday night.
Work to pour concrete for the new deck on the Green Bridge over the Wenatchee River along Highway 2 will happen from 10 p.m. Wednesday to 10 a.m. Thursday, the state Department of Transportation said in a news release. The work was originally planned for Monday.
A flagger will be on duty and traffic in either direction reduced to a single lane. Motorists should expect a delay of about 20 minutes, DOT spokesman Jeff Adamson said this morning.
The bridge is about five miles west of Coles Corner.
Work is part of a $8.5 million project to replace three bridges in Tumwater Canyon. Construction began Aug. 1, 2011 and is expected to be finished in September.
