ROCK ISLAND — About 3,000 marijuana plants were discovered on land northeast of Rock Island Wednesday when Douglas County sheriff’s deputies investigated a trespassing complaint.
A rancher who owns land in a remote canyon reported that he had found a camp site, said Douglas County Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal in a press release. Deputies came to the area and found the marijuana plants. Information was not available on the street value of the plants, which were removed and destroyed.
Anyone with information on the camp site and marijuana growing operation is asked to call the Sheriff’s Office at 884-0941.
