My husband and I married in November 1998. I thought it was kind of cool that my husband and I had our birthdays less than two weeks apart, mine on June 12 and his June 1. His birthday also happened to be the day before my dad’s birthday.
We conceived our first son, Cyphar, after three years of marriage. When I was pregnant with him, he was due to be born around July 1, but I had to be induced and he ended up being born two weeks early on June 14, 2002.
We struggled with infertility for five years before conceiving our second son, Jovial, who was born naturally on June 16, 2009. We experienced infertility for two years before conceiving our third child, a daughter, Moxie, who was born naturally on June 13, 2012. So it happens that four of us have our birthdays within five days of each other, my husband being the odd duck nearly two weeks earlier. This year we turned 38, 35, 11, 4 and 1.
It amazes us that our birthdays fall so closely together. We have always enjoyed having a big, fun party with lots of friends and family each year. This year, we made it memorable by using rubber bands to make a watermelon explode. It had about 400 rubber bands wrapped around it before it finally blew!
We aren’t sure if we are done having kids yet; we’ll just have to see what happens in the next couple of years. We wonder what it would be like if we were to have a child whose birthday wasn’t in June!
