Thinking of going to see the new laser show at Grand Coulee Dam?
Wait just a little bit. The new show is supposed to open Aug. 8 at nightfall, a show that has been in development this year.
We took a small group to see the dam earlier this week, a chore I don’t mind doing. The third powerhouse generators are undergoing major rehab one by one, so tours don’t go there now.
But public tours are available on the hour during the day, and take busloads of visitors into the huge pumping plant that is shoving water up into Banks Lake.
Each of the dozen 12-foot diameter pipes carries more than a billion gallons of water a day 280 feet up the hill into the canal that feeds Banks Lake.
Even without the powerhouse the tour its a great show.
