ENTIAT — A 17-year-old East Wenatchee girl was rescued Saturday afternoon after fracturing her leg while on the Entiat River Trail.
Sgt. Kent Sisson, spokesman for the Chelan County Sheriff’s Office, said the girl was on a day hike with friends just east of Myrtle Lake when she tripped on a root while running down the trail. She tumbled onto the trail and down an embankment, fracturing her right femur.
Sisson said sheriff’s deputies, Ballard Ambulance medics and Forest Service rangers responded to the scene, which was about four miles west of Cottonwood Campground at the end of the Entiat River Road. The crews stabilized the patient and transported her from the area using a wheeled litter.
The girl was taken by ambulance to Central Washington Hospital in Wenatchee. Her condition was not immediately available.
