This story previously gave the wrong date for Don Hanson's death. That has been corrected in this version.
COLES CORNER — Snow falling from a tree is believed to have killed the owner of the Scottish Lakes High Camp near here on Saturday.
Don Hanson, 65, was found dead under the snow about 7 p.m. Saturday near the main lodge, said Chelan County Sheriff Brian Burnett.
Hanson was last seen about 3 p.m., the sheriff’s said. His wife, Chris, became worried about him when he was not seen for some time. Searchers then found him.
“We think a large, heavy section of snow fell off a tree and pretty much buried him,” Burnett said.
An autopsy is planned for early this week.
Scottish Lakes High Camp is located in the Colter Creek area and is near Coles Corner in the Lake Wenatchee area. The Hansons purchased the camp in 1994 from Bill and Peg Stark.

Don was a great friend, always smiling and fun to watch local Wild hockey games with. I know that he and his wife Chris were community builders in the Wenatchee Valley - by that I mean that they cared about the people living in this valley. Don loved so much the lifestyle of owning and working at Scottish Lakes, you could see it in his eyes when he talked about High Camp. I'll miss you Don and so will the thousands of people who crossed your path. When I cut a skin path up McCue Ridge and point the planks downhill for one more run I will always think of you.
