WENATCHEE — A fire that may have started on the front deck heavily damaged a Sunnyslope home late Sunday night.
The young man who was living in the house told firefighters that he saw a glow on the deck, went outside to investigate and found cushions on fire on a couch, said Mike Burnett, chief of Chelan County Fire District 1. The young adult, whose parents were not home, called in the fire at 10:44 p.m. He was keeping warm at a neighbor’s house and declined to comment on the blaze.
Burnett said the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
The house, at 3420 Alpine Court, is located off Burch Mountain Road. Burnett said it appeared to be a newer home. It contained a main floor and a daylight basement. By 12:30 a.m., firefighters were still hosing down hot spots on both floors.
