Sewer plant work could cause stink
Saturday, March 9, 2013
Things could get a little stinkier than usual in East Wenatchee early next week as filters are replaced at the Douglas County sewer plant.
Douglas County Sewer District employees will be working on the plant’s biological filtration system Monday through Wednesday. The system uses tree roots and bark to filter and clean raw sewage. The organic matter must be replaced every five to six years, said Brernita Landers, district manager. The work could cause odors from the plant to be a little more foul than normal for much of the week, she said.
