A call from an off duty state patrolman led to an arrest of a Rock Island man on charges of brandishing a firearm and threatening to kill another man early Saturday morning.
Douglas County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the call at 2 a.m. Saturday after the state patrolman observed the altercation between two men at BJ’s Truck Stop in Rock Island. Deputies stopped an identified vehicle and questioned a man who said he had been threatened earlier at the truck stop by a man who drove up in a white Mustang and threatened to shoot him with a sawed off shotgun, said Sheriff Harvey Gjesdal.
Deputies were able to track the Mustang to a Rock Island residence. They obtained a search warrant and found the shotgun, which had been reported stolen from Colville.
Armando Valdez-Godina, 27, was arrested at the residence and booked into Chelan County Regional Jail for threats to kill, brandishing a firearm and as a felon in possession of a firearm.
