WENATCHEE — State Attorney General Bob Ferguson Monday tossed a flag-adorned wreath off the Pipeline Pedestrian Bridge Monday with East Wenatchee Mayor Steve Lacy and Wenatchee Mayor Frank Kuntz and watched as the Columbia River’s strong spring current carried it down stream.
The local American Legion organized the Memorial Day event, which commemorated soldiers lost at sea.
Ferguson, whose father was in the Navy, was in Wenatchee to kick off a week-long tour through Eastern Washington. He also planned to speak at a commemorative service at Wenatchee’s city cemetery.
Women’s Auxiliary and Honor Guard member Christy Robinson-Seto of East Wenatchee, sang “God be With You ‘Til We Meet Again,” a tradition she started at the bridge event a decade ago.
