American MoteLodge officially opens Nov. 10, 1963, at 610 N. Wenatchee Ave. Archways cover the entrance to the 59-room, two-story motel owned and operated by Bob and Gloria Coffman. All rooms include radio, television, telephones, separate heating and air conditioning units and private baths. Wash basins are installed outside the bathroom, a new innovation at the time. A swimming pool and conference room are also available to guests. The $580,000 motel took about four months to construct.
