NCW — Permits to cut down a Christmas tree are now on sale at all ranger districts on the Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest.
They are also available at the forest headquarters in Wenatchee, or Okanogan Valley office in Okanogan.
The $5 permit allows a family to cut one tree with a maximum height of 15 feet, or dig and transplant a small living tree. Two permits are allowed per family.
The U.S. Forest Service encourages tree gatherers to check road conditions, dress warmly, plan trips during daylight hours, and be familiar with the area.
