OMAK — Fire damaged an Omak residence Friday night after the owner fell asleep while cooking, Omak Fire Chief Kevin Bowling said.
Clyde Richter was not injured by the 10:35 p.m. blaze at 150 Nichols Road, Bowling said.
He estimated about $15,000 to $20,000 in damages to the kitchen and attic above it, and smoke damages throughout the single-story home.
In a separate fire, a camper trailer parked in a yard on Dayton Street in Omak was destroyed by fire just before 1 a.m. Friday, Bowling said. He said the camper was being used as a residence, and the cause of the fire is unknown.
