Janet Marie Hester

January 21, 1933 ~ November 4, 2013

Janet Marie Hester, 80, a lifelong resident of the Wenatchee Valley passed away on Monday, November 4, 2013 with her family by her side. She was born on January 21, 1933 to the late Walter and Loella (Bainard) Heinz, Sr. at Wenatchee, WA. The oldest of nine children, she helped her parents with the care of her siblings. She attended the Wenatchee schools and graduated from Wenatchee High School. After graduation, she started to work as an apple packer in the local warehouses before working as a waitress at the local hamburger stand. She met and married Paul Earney at Wenatchee in the year of 1952. Together, they made their home in the valley and together, they had four children. On February 25, 1972 she married Joseph Hester and together they lived in Wenatchee. In 1977, she agreed to move to Joe’s home state of Texas. Together they lived in Clyde and Abilene. Janet managed Lubies Cafeteria, while Joe drove commercial truck. When Joe passed in 2003, she moved back to Wenatchee to be with her family once again.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America; bowled in the league at Eastmont and Wenatchee lanes. She loved to cook and bake. Daughter, Heather, remembers constant orders for her cinnamon rolls and son, Rex, recalls his mom yelling “Stay Out of My Kitchen!” She enjoyed knitting and making the “granny squares” for afghans. Although her children will say she was “bossy”, they all agreed that she raised them to be kind and respectful to others.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Hester; and baby daughter, Carol Heinert. She is survived by her children: Heather (Ron) Pflugrath of Peshastin, Rex (Zarina) Earney, of Wenatchee, Neal Earney of East Wenatchee; siblings, Katherine Coriell of East Wenatchee, Lois Fortune of East Wenatchee, Lorraine (EC) Martin of East Wenatchee, June Gilstrap of Wenatchee, Judy (Dale) Holzerland of East Wenatchee, Walter (Darlene) Heinz, Jr. of Wenatchee, Richard “Dick” (Kendice) Heinz of East Wenatchee, Gary (Auggie) Heinz of Wenatchee; nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren.

The family wishes to “Thank” the staffs at Central Washington Hospital and Heritage Memorial Chapel Funeral Home.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 from 1:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. at Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee. Funeral Services are scheduled for Friday, November 8, 2013, 11:00 a.m. at Heritage Memorial Chapel with Graveside Services following at the Wenatchee Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to view her online tribute at www.HeritageMemorialChapel.com. Honored to serve the family, Heritage Memorial Chapel, East Wenatchee.
