Howard and Marilyn Asmussen of Pateros will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary during an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Event Center in Pateros.

Howard Asmussen and Marilyn Schneider were married Nov. 15, 1953, in Omak. They raised their family on the Asmussen homestead in Mansfield, where they were dry land wheat farmers. In 1991, they bought a cattle ranch in Loomis and marketed their beef under the Double R brand. Three years ago, they built a hotel, the Pateros Lakeshore Inn, and retired on the top floor. They also own the Rivers Restaurant and The Trading Post store in Pateros.
