Bon Appétit: To say local school cafeteria food has gone gourmet may be an overstatement. But it has gone Bon Appétit.
Bon Appétit magazine took notice and chose the Wenatchee School District as one of seven schools nationwide featured on its online magazine Oct. 25. Wenatchee school cafeterias regularly serve farm fresh stringbeans, asparagus, sweet garden tomatoes and newly-picked pears and apples. Dishes like chicken fajitas with fresh salsa and roast potatoes, carrots and squash have replaced the tasteless meatloaf, hotdogs and canned vegetables usually associated with school lunch.
