Two drunk drivers hit each other, sending six to hospitals

OROVILLE — Six people were hospitalized, including two young children and a pedestrian, after suspected drunk drivers slammed into each other on Highway 97 near Oroville.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, a northbound vehicle driven by Mary E. Smith-Capote, 44, of Oroville, and a southbound truck driven by Brian L. Mathis, 27, of Oroville, collided at the intersection of Wards Road, about five miles south of Oroville, around 3:10 p.m. Friday.
