David Edsil Short was born to Willard E. and Sadie G. Short in Wenatchee, 69 years ago. He was a lifelong resident of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee. David graduated from Eastmont High School in 1963. He was a Vietnam Veteran and longtime member of the Masonic Lodge in Wenatchee. He worked at Burlington Northern Railroad for 25 years, until he retired. David married Bobbi JoAnn (Batch) Roland in 1969. They lived on the Charles Carter Homestead on Stemilt Creek Road for several years, until moving to his home in East Wenatchee. They were married for 36 years, until her passing in 2005. David was an avid hunter and fisherman and so loved the outdoors and between plucking feathers and scraping scales, David also loved elk and deer hunting. He had a personality that the outdoors beckoned for and he never resisted the call. David loved to discuss just about anything with anyone. He also helped with the family cherry orchard with his sister, Sylvia, for years. David dearly loved his family and friends. He was also an avid yard saler. His kindness and willingness was always given freely to those in need. We all love you, David, and may God bless you on your further journey.

David is survived by his partner, Joyce Varnell; sisters, Sylvia Gifford (Dale) of North Bend, OR, Judy Doolittle (Steve) of Wenatchee and Janet Gifford (Rick) of East Wenatchee; nephews, Lance Scheiber of Bremerton, WA, Dane and Brandon Gifford and David Milne of East Wenatchee; nieces, Lydia Scheiber and Brigette Milne of Bainbridge Island, WA, Rachelle Wilson (Brent), Lacy Rae Wilson, Alyssa Van Doren (Aaron) of Wenatchee, Stephanie Gifford and Ashley Clement of East Wenatchee; Uncle, Walter B. and Aunt, Mae Carter of Carterville, MO; adopted son, Cory Kruger of East Wenatchee; and his many cousins and friends.
