Dorothy D. (DeDe) Stumpf

Wenatchee, WA

DeDe was a lifetime resident of Wenatchee. She was born March 24, 1928, the only child of Geraldine Dickson Hutchinson and Harvey (Hutch) Hutchinson. She graduated from Wenatchee High School in 1946. DeDe was a princess in the 1946 Apple Blossom Royalty. She married Clarence Stumpf in 1953. Together, they managed Stumpf Farms and raised four children. DeDe did all the bookkeeping for Stumpf Farms and Clancy’s Car Wash. She and Clarence loved to travel and traveled all over the World. Her sense of humor brought to the family and marriage some memorable moments. They were married forty-eight years when Clancy died in 2001. DeDe loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, traveling when she could, with them. She dabbled in oil painting, crafts and gardening. DeDe loved playing bridge and participated in many bridge clubs with good friends. DeDe was active in Sunnyslope School PTA, Sunnyslope Apple Blossom Float Committee and served on the Sunnyslope Princess Selection Committee. She was a chaperone for the Apple Blossom Royalty of 1974 and 1975. DeDe was a charter member of Marcia McBride Orthopedic Guild-Beta Sigma Phi, a literacy tutor, a docent for Gallery 76, and also volunteered as a pink lady at NCW Hospital. She volunteered at her church, First United Methodist.

DeDe is survived by Cammie Miller (Kevin) of Tacoma; Grant Stumpf of Wenatchee; Leslie Nelson (Brian) of Wenatchee; Brian Stumpf (Terese) of Wenatchee; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

A Memorial for DeDe will be held Friday, November 22, 2013 at 11:30 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church, 941 Washington St., Wenatchee, WA.
