WENATCHEE — A judge has sharply criticized Wenatchee School District officials for “asking too much” of a teacher they fired after a student drowned in his swimming class in 2011.

“You have a P.E. teacher who was asked to be instructor, supervisor, administrator and lifeguard. That’s certainly asking too much of anyone to fulfill all those duties,” Chelan County Superior Court Judge Lesley Allan said Friday.
